How to Get Your Poinsettia to Bloom Again
Although getting the poinsettia to re-bloom nest season is a long process, it is not impossible.
~Late Feb, early Mar cut the stems back leaving 4 - 6 inches to stimulate new growth.
~Continue with the same watering practice and begin fertilizing with a balanced liquid soluble fertilizer (20-20-20) every 3-4 weeks.
~Repot in late spring or early summer. Place in sunny position and keep moist.
~Rotating the pot once a week encourages symmetrical shape.
~Pinch growing shoots & the top 1/4 inch to encourage branching about every 3 weeks.
~From Oct 1st - mid December the plant must have 12 to 14 hours of darkness and 10 to 12 hours natural light daily. Complete darkness is imperative to blooming.
~Once the blooms start to show color, then the original poinsettia care begins again.
